How MVR Monitoring Works

Get started with MVR Monitoring

Resources

MVR Monitoring is a service that monitors driving records continuously (monthly in Colorado) and notifies organizations about negative activities, like new moving violations, suspension or accidents. The system sends an email alert once the state DMV reports any new activity. System also sends email notifications about upcoming driver license or CDL medical certificate expirations. The service allows organizations to stay informed about their employees’ driving eligibility and risk profile.

MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) monitoring is crucial for several reasons, particularly for organizations that rely on employees who drive as part of their job. Here’s why MVR monitoring is important:

1. Enhancing Safety

  • Continuous MVR monitoring helps identify high-risk drivers before accidents occur.
  • It ensures that employees operating vehicles adhere to safety regulations and Organization policies.

2. Reducing Liability Risks

  • Companies can face legal consequences if they allow employees with poor driving records to operate vehicles.
  • MVR monitoring provides proactive risk management by flagging violations or suspensions.

3. Lowering Insurance Costs

  • Insurance companies often offer lower premiums to businesses that actively monitor driver records.
  • Reducing accidents and violations leads to fewer claims, helping maintain lower insurance rates.

4. Ensuring Compliance

  • Certain industries (e.g., transportation, logistics, delivery, and construction) are required by law to maintain up-to-date driver records.
  • MVR monitoring ensures compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) and other regulatory bodies.

5. Protecting Organization Reputation

  • Drivers with repeated violations can harm a Organization’s reputation.
  • MVR monitoring helps ensure that employees uphold professional and responsible driving behavior.

6. Cost Savings

  • Preventing accidents and legal issues reduces costs associated with repairs, insurance claims, and legal fees.
  • It minimizes downtime caused by suspended or unlicensed drivers.

7. Immediate Alerts on Violations

  • Instead of waiting for periodic checks, continuous MVR monitoring provides real-time alerts on infractions, DUI arrests, license suspensions, and other red flags.

8. Better Hiring Decisions

  • MVR checks during the hiring process help businesses screen potential employees for risky driving behavior.
  • Avoids hiring candidates with histories of reckless or unsafe driving.

There is no limit to the number of admin users you can add. However, please note that admin users will have unrestricted access to employees’ Personally Identifiable Information (PII). To protect sensitive data, grant access only to those who require it for viewing driver record information.

There is no cost to Colorado state agencies and certified non-Profits approved by the a State Purchasing and Contracts Office. The cost of the MVR monitoring service through Embark Safety is part of a state program sponsored by the State Office of Risk Management (SORM), within the Department of Personnel and Administration.
